2026 to end of May

Just a short blog to catch us up before I get all the pictures from the Spring Rally. We had our monthly brunches at Seven Oaks All Day Eatery. Marlene C sent me this picture from the February brunch:

From left around the table - Jim, Terry, Roger, Bob, Joanne, Lorne, Gus, Barb, Marlene T, Kathy, and Carolynn:

We had our spring meeting at brunch also. In attendance were:

From left, around the table - Harv, Nancy, Bob, Marlene T, Gail, Ed, Pat (hidden), Janet, Doug, Fred, Ralph, Bev, Carolynn, Jim, Terry, and Kathy:

Table added at the near end for the latecomers, from the left around the table - Thelma, Marlene C, Roger, Alanna, and Alan:

Our original plan for the May campout was from the 19th to the 22nd, but it had rained so much and so hard that the campground cancelled out on us - it was just too wet. We adjusted and went from the 26th to the 29th, but people had arranged their lives around the first dates and fewer of us were able to make it. Those who were able to attend were Fred and Pat, Harv and Nancy, Lorne and Joanne, Rilla, Bob and Marlene.

I didn't take too many pictures so if my memory is wrong please correct me and I'll correct the blog.

We arrived on Tuesday to a very wet campground. After lunch on our own some of us just rested, and some went to the Craven Motor Inn, Steak Pit & Tavern for an early happy hour. At six we had our potluck in the quonset and then stayed to play cards and games in the evening.

Wednesday was hot and humid. We were going to play games after lunch but it was just too hot, so we headed back to the Craven Bar and spent the afternoon playing sweep (cards)! We had checked with them ahead of time to make sure it was OK to sit and play cards, and the gal in charge just pointed to the crib table in the middle of the bar! She was all for it. She was also prepared with lots of coffee when we came. Once the weather had cooled down a bit we headed back to the campground for a weiner roast.

Thursday was still very hot but the campground was dryer and we were able to do more. We started the morning with coffee in front of Bob and Marlene T's:

Played golf in the afternoon - Harv and Rilla won the men's and women's high scores (surprise, surprise!). Harv and I were in charge so here I am giving out the trophies:

After golf we had happy hour (no 50/50 - not enough people):

At 5:30 we got ready to head over to the Lumsden Hotel & Steak Pit for supper at 6:00, then returned to the campground for an evening campfire:

And that is about it! The next post will be all about the Spring Rally in St. Walburg.
