We had 9 rigs attending this campout (16 people), all members, as follows:
We met at the Balgonie Flying J at 10am and headed east to Grenfell, where we stopped at the Prairie Singh Bistro for a very nice lunch. We had a few bumps in the trip as we ran into construction twice, but it didn't cause us much of a problem. Otherwise the trip was uneventful, and had a few scenic spots along the way:
Carlton Trail Regional Park is a lovely recreational area, just north of Spy Hill, SK. Besides the campground the park has a nine hole golf course, two lakes, one for swimming and one for fishing, a playground, a mini golf course, and a restaurant and bar attached to the pro shop (we made good use of the restaurant for lunches, etc):

The highlight of the trip was a visit to the Kaposvar Historical Site, which is just a few miles south of Esterhazy. Kaposvar, one of the first Hungarian settlements in Western Canada, was established in 1886. We visited the church and rectory and a few of us walked down past the graveyard to visit the homestead site, which was established in 1986 and includes a pioneer house (1905), a barn, a millhouse, and a rural schoolhouse:

This organ was on the balcony - we were treated to a short musical interlude by Gus:
We then went on to the rectory next door:

I think most of us has spent some years in desks very similar to these:
I don't think I could live by these rules!
On our way back to the campground we stopped in Esterhazy at the ice cream parlor. Here are Rilla and Bob ordering their ice cream:

Bob and Marlene T had a nice shady spot big enough for all of us, so that is where we had our morning coffee, and happy hours:
We played the mini-golf course one afternoon. Rilla ran the game, and here she is handing out the trophies:

Our last night we went out for supper at the Double D Bar and Grill in Spy Hill. They were not sure that we were coming as we neglected to confirm, and the phone number they had for us was incorrect. Comedy of errors! They have a steak pit where you cook your own steak, and were able to round up a few steaks for those who wanted them. The rest of us either ordered off the menu or went to the salad bar. I went to the salad bar and really enjoyed it. They had a really nice variety of fresh vegetables and various premade salads. Here we all are:
And that's it! We had a fun week.
I think this is one of the nicest campgrounds I have ever stayed at. We have a friend whose partner is from Spy Hill. When they were visiting, they would often take their grandkids to the park to play.
