September 4 to 8, 2024 - Watrous Mini Rally

Our final campout of the season was at the Provincial Mini Rally, held at Manitou Regional Park in Watrous, SK attended by all of the Saskatchwan Good Sam chapters.

We arrived Wednesday afternoon with lots of time to set up before our pot luck supper. I missed out on getting any pictures until after it was all over - too bad - Thelma brought the most awesome cake! (Not that the rest wasn't great too!)

Thursday morning was the rummage sale - our table was the best at the event by all accounts. Janet and Doug ran it for us again and made over $300! I think it was all the baking we had at our table!

We had the Director's and Chapter President's meeting this morning. We elected a new Provincial Director couple, and appointed two new Assistant Provincial Director couples - one of which was our own Roger and Marlene C.

 

Kathy from our chapter ran the bean bag baseball in the afternoon - we had quite a good turnout. Harv played while I was busy with treasurer stuff:

Kathy is the bean bag baseball expert and always volunteers to run the games - here she is keeping score for the first board:

That night we had a campfire by Fred's and Pat's trailer:

Friday morning was golf - the only one I remember playing from our chapter was Rilla - she loves golf!

Later in the morning our chapter, along with the Lakeland Sams, were guests of the Sunseeker Sams and Wooly Mammoth Sams for coffee. We were broken up into small groups which was quite nice - we actually visited more than when we are all in one big circle.

They had an awesome coffee cake to go with the coffee:

In the afternoon we played bean bag toss and ladder golf. Harv's and my team were both in the final for bean bag toss, but my team lost out to his. 

Later in the afternoon we had a jam session - Gus played his accordion and a couple from another chapter played guitars and sang:

Bob and Marlene T had fun dancing to their music:

After the jam session we had a wiener roast - although we had to cook the wieners on BBQs because there was a fire ban. It was a fun get together anyway - and we had an ice cream social afterward for dessert!

Saturday morning the Manitou Village put on a pancake breakfast which we were invited to. Most of us went and had a really good breakfast.

After breakfast I played cribbage, run by Rilla. The Good Sam Stores were open - we are trying to get rid of our inventory and close the stores down. They are just not that profitable now that our group is so small.

Harv and I got talked into playing bean bag baseball in the afternoon by Kathy! It was hot out but they had moved the game into the shade and we had a fun afternoon. Others from our group played Samgo (Bingo).

We joined with Border City Sams to host happy hour for Wheatland Sams, Prairie Lily Sams, and Wooly Mammoth Sams later in the afternoon:

We had a great spread - lots of goodies:

After Happy Hour our chapter went out to Peppertree Restaurant for supper.

Our final campfire that night was at Fred and Pat C's.

Sunday morning was a Hymn Sing, followed by closing remarks, and then everyone headed home.
